The European liquid air energy storage market is further surveyed by segmenting the region into countries such as Germany, the UK, France, and the rest of Europe. In the UK, government expenditure on liquid air energy projects so as to reduce carbon emissions, is the primary driver of market growth. The ESA has promoted the deployment of liquid air energy storage system with an aim to control carbon emission and promote renewable source of energy. In October 2019, Highview power planned a 50MW project which is a clean large-scale storage facility that will help the country to achieve its goal of decarbonizing industry, heat, power, and transport.

The German market is primarily steered by rising adoption of renewable energy for controlling greenhouse emission, together with the government initiatives in terms of the adoption of liquid air energy storage systems. As per Energy Transition, Germany accounts for a share 33% of green power in total supply, and in 2016 the greenhouse emissions were 28% lower than in 1990. Germany plans to reduce total greenhouse emissions by 40% by 2020.

Highview Power, headquartered in London, provides energy storage devices and liquid air energy storage solution, which can transfer electricity to 200,000 homes for 12 hours for about 2 weeks. In February 2020, the company entered into a partnership with Sumitomo Heavy Industries to expand cryogenic energy storage projects globally.
